Well, I'm about 12 hours away from a trip to Washington DC for Thanksgiving. My two brothers, their wives and children, my mother and me, and whatever spares they pick up. We might have gone to my brother's new house in West Virginia (after he escaped from Katrina), but my DC brother's daughter is a bit young.

For my <1 year old niece, I made a music CD. Sort of on the fly, but with thought behind it. My previous CD for infants was a bunch of slow classical and lullaby music. But I noticed my sister-in-law singing to the High Hopes: Songs of Joy and Optimism CD traded with [livejournal.com profile] dreamshark and [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr and others. Without repeating a song, and with only a little cheating on my favorites, here is a playlist of singable tunes primarily for the grownups since Antonia won't understand the lyrics for many years.

That's a fantastic compilation, for both kids and adults. I'll bet Antonia will be singing along to this one before you know it!

I'd love a copy of this one. I'll trade you one of my silly theme compilations for it. Which would you rather have:
Seasons of the Year
Days of the Week
Colors of the Rainbow
Superheroes
Songs about Fish (and other things that live in the water)
Songs about people named John

Hmmm.... all interesting collections. I think I'm in a Fish mood, with Superheroes second... but I may change my mind by the time I come back.

Okay, I'll edit/rearrange both of those for transfer to CD. The Superhero one is fun, but on the short side. Some of them will definitely be familiar (in fact, some of them probably came from you) but I can just about guarantee that some of them will be ones you haven't heard.

I just noticed that the "Fish" one consists entirely of songs that things that live in the water that are NOT fish. It's a pretty cool collection, though, and just about the right length for a CD. I'm not quite sure what to call it: currently it's just labeled "Water Creatures."
