Things came together at the last minute, and I'm going to 4th Street Fantasy Convention.

And I'm not ready. Usually, there's a certain amount of mental preparation, a certain amount of schedule shifting, a certain amount of physical preparation. In the next few hours I have to do a laundry, e-mail people about not doing things this weekend and maybe even take a nap. And I'll probably leave the con fairly early.

I intend to have a good time, but it might take a day or so before I'm in Con Mode. Yes, Seth, I'm bringing your recorder.

4th Street will be my fourth con this year, with Convergence coming up. That may not be a lot of con for some, but it's darn close to a record for me.

I usually manage to get to Arisia, Boskone, and Vericon in the Boston winter con season, Readercon in the summer, and one or two out-of-town cons. (Minicon a couple of times, Penguicon this year). I wish 4SFC had been an option for me this year; enjoy it!

Yup, I left out Convivial. So that will be six. Still probably not a record, but you'd have to go back to my college or just post-college days to have a year that con-flated.

Sheesh! Time was I used to attend at least 6 cons a year. Not anymore, though. Try one a year. If I do attend FenCon (Oct. 3-5)in Dallas, that will be two cons this year. ArmadilloCon in Austin (Aug. 8-10) is now officially out since my wife's graduation is that Saturday, the 9th, and we're gonna party here in celebration.
