Convergence had an extraordinarily high percentage of people in some sort of outfit, even people who normally don't indulge (if "normal" was ever a useful description of fans). The Dealers Room had people selling kilts and corsets. I don't know why Steam Punk was so evident, but it sure beats Goth.
