Update As of 3:00pm, Franken's lead is now 283.... 3:04: 257. What a ride.

As of 2:30 pm, The Star Tribune gives Al Franken a 266 vote lead. Franken's lead has been growing all day. Didn't Coleman say something about quitting if Franken's lead were large enough?

This is why we count all the ballots. Voter suppression is harder for absentee voters, and many Democrats were very worried about election day shenanigans. It looks like they were right.

More to come and the outcome is hardly assured. Still, it looks good for the good guys.

It looks like they were right about what? Has there been one shred of evidence from this recount of "election day shenanigans?"

Lawyerly shenanigans during the recount process, sure. Occasional sloppiness or small mistakes on the part of election officials, of course; nobody's perfect. But where do you see "shenanigans?"

It looks like Democrats were right about voter intimidation. In all the talk of lawsuits by and for Coleman, no one's talking about the suit that Ritchie filed against the Minnesota Majority and his predecessor (http://minnesotaindependent.com/15474/secretary-of-state-mark-ritchie-misprepesentation-and-voter-initimidation-will-not-be-tolerated-by-this-office).

I love that the Star Tribune is publishing the ballots so you can see what is causing the challenges.

A friend who knows I like ducks (and which of my friends doesn't?) found a children's book called Duck for President (http://www.duckforpresident.com/) in, I kid you not, a box of Cheerios. She read it to her little boy in my presence and it had a number of amusing touches. One such touch was that every time Duck runs for office, the election is so close that his opponent demands a recount. In each instance, lost ballots are stuck to the bottom of something: a pig here, the vice president there.
