If you mean "continuing to read an author whom one finds less than adequate in person", I agree. But direct offenses often provoke a visceral response. At least for some: Apparently, there are people feuding with me whom I'm not at all feuding with, and that just makes them madder. I don't know why, and I don't really care; I can recognize genius even in people behaving like idiots. I seem to be the exception, which is why the quote was attractive.
