I'd argue that some of this has come true: look at Peapod (not what it was when it started out, but I believe it's still around in a couple of big cities). You can order all sorts of stuff online and have it delivered directly to your home. FedEx has expanded into ground and cargo; the postal service expanded to include express delivery (we'll ignore Priority Mail, shall we?). I'd say that competition has had more of an effect on prices than any on-board navigational systems, though.
Speaking of which, new passenger cars now have GPS-based navigational systems as a fairly common option.
