The May Day 2006 gallery is finally finished. This is the same range of pictures as I announced before, but the annotations of the larger pictures are finished and I've linked it to the rest of my site. Since I announced the gallery before, I'm only going to mention this here, partly because so many of you now have proper annotations and links. This means you, [livejournal.com profile] chirosinger! (See 116, and thanks for the tea yesterday.) Corrections are encouraged. The pictures are the same... with two exceptions. I redid the cropping on the Unlimited dance troupe. Click back and forth between 59 and 60 (using the next and previous buttons in the upper right) to catch a bit of the flavor of their dance.

Those "loons" look amazingly like Canada geese. Honk!

Thanks. The power of the web is still how you can direct The Interconnectedness Of All Things.

I was told they're loons, and they looked sufficiently like loon pictures that I went with it. As always, corrections are encouraged.

Well, common loons (http://www.audubon.org/bird/BoA/F45_G1a.html) (the official state bird of Minnesota, jokes about those big mosquitoes notwithstanding) have distinctive cross-hatch backs, and pointed bills. Canada geese (http://www.audubon.org/bird/BoA/F39_G2a.html) have long black necks with white cheek patches.

Perform a Google Images (http://images.google.com/images?q=Canada+goose&hl=en&btnG=Search+Images) search on "Canada Goose" and I think you'll find the results persuasive.
