New Netflix friends -- this means you!

Netflix is updating how they handle their Friends, my LJ Friends list is larger and it's been a while since I've pushed The Larger Community here on LJ. The invitation is open to all, including lurkers and random drop-ins. Not a big deal, but kinda fun on occasion.

What does it mean, to be a 'Netflix Friend?'

We exchange e-mails connections via Netflix (meaning we know each other outside the confines of the DVD rental service). On the Netflix site, I can see which movies you rented and you can see mine. We can exchange brief recommendations and so forth. They're expanding this part of Netflix so that individual "Friends" can form a "Community".

Whether they know it or not, they sound like they're trying to recreate CAPRA, the Cinema Amateur PRess Association, a film apa I was in many years ago. Dunno whether it will be as fun, but it seems worth a mouse click or two to find out.
