Jury Duty, hybrid busses and an ootie
Nov. 19th, 2007 04:24 pmHow interesting. I have my first permanent full-time job in many years, and all of a sudden... jury duty. In 29 years of living in Mpls I've never been summoned before. Amusingly, I work a block away from the courthouse, and could probably slip in to do some work before reporting. On the other hand, the job is comparatively new and there's no one to cover for me... we'll see.
The summons comes with a free Metro Transit coupon, good for one free ride. In another coincidence, I got 1 1/2 free rides today. The hybrid busses that go up and down Nicollet, the 18, were free. Going to work, I took advantage of the MTC's largess and walked the four blocks on the second leg, for a totally free ride. Coming home, I had to take the first leg first, and didn't know if the bus would be free. In fact, I'd totally forgotten about it. So I wound up paying one full fare for four blocks of bus, which is still half of my normal commuting expense for the day.
And in other news, the reason I started this post:
skylarker and
calimac have already posted their Fantasy Matters conreport, so I might as well put up the picture of his visit.
