Gosh, I'm sorry, but it took me a full ten seconds to figure out what that says. The lettering style is so ornate that I had to go through it letter-by-letter, and for a moment I couldn't parse the divided word.

Yeah, yeah, I must be stupid, but who's to say there won't be stupid people at Minicon?

It's meant as cuneiform-style, in keeping with the archeological 'digging up the future' theme of the convention.

I suspect a) there will be more than one sign and b) most fans do not need much of a hint.

I think it looks cool. Downright Akkadian.

Yeah, it looks cool (once I figured it out), but cool shouldn't be the enemy of legibility.

I have very bad gestalt perception - comes with the Asperger's, perhaps. It was literally years before I noticed that this design (http://www.typophile.com/files/muni_logo_4229.gif) on the sides of San Francisco Muni buses contained the word "Muni".

Well, you weren't the only one to complain about legibility. Fortunately, there was a far-more-legible sign right next to it at the registration desk! :-)

It's nice to see how [livejournal.com profile] pgdudda's sign turned out. It was still in the pencils stage when I left.
