The Weisman Art Museum is part of the University of Minnesota campus. Designed by Frank Gehry, it sits between the student union and the Mississippi River. Just off the main reception area is a small balcony that's usually closed. [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B rated, though, and the balcony was open. This is an uncommon angle to get.

What you're looking at is the bridge across the Misssissippi River, connecting the U of M's West Bank and East Bank. The bottom part is for cars (the white streaks), and the upper part is for pedestrians. Looking West, behind the bridge, is downtown Minneapolis. The bridge is reflected in the Mississippi on the lower left. You can't see it here, but the reconstruction of the I-35W bridge is just a few hundred yards upstream, to the right.

The light was too low for my camera to take a really sharp image and my hand isn't steady enough for a timed shot, but I like the artiness, somewhat improved in PhotoShop.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B's lecture on Security Theater was great.
