Yesterday was the MN-StF picnic. The weather was beautiful, punctuated by small bursts of rain. These were predicted, and people brought umbrellas and tents. Then it poured. but did that stop our brave fen from grilling meat? No way!

This is why I find the midwest so weird. Where I come from, grilling weather and rain are completely incompatible. Any day that it was going to rain, even later, it'd already be so cold and likely windy that you wouldn't even think about going down to the park for a picnic.

This is why the Midwest is America's Breadbasket. We need water... and we have water. Water will be more valuable than oil at some point in the near future.

Parts of my part of the world get enough water. They just get very few picnics.

Ah. I see by the top photo that the person most probable to be the owner of the red and white umbrella I found left behind is DaveW.

Just what we need: more reason to be taking photos, at every event, from every angle - you never know what might prove to be valuable data at a future date.

Thanks! I'll hopefully retrieve it at the next Mn-Stf meeting.

I'll try to remember it. (It might help if you remind me next time you're planning to attend.)

The picnic itself was great. Lots of good people and good food. Even when it poured, we had a grand (if damp) ol' time huddling together under the tent. Bocci Ball, bungie rockets, cards and other stuff. Most of the time, it was nice, though humid. And a bunch of us went down to the falls which were nice and full after the rain.
