The party was fun, but the In Box is full and Obama is off to a fast start.

Obama halts all regulations pending review, Obama Seeks Halt to Legal Proceedings at Guantanamo and several Cabinet members were confirmed. Track Obama's Cabinet Nominees

Ah, it's nice to have adults in charge again.

In diaper news: Former Sen. Norm Coleman is crying like a baby, and has completely flip-flopped on his position about discarded ballots. He now wants to count ballots he insisted shouldn't be. MN-Sen: Coleman Still Grasping At Straws (brownsox DailyKos diary).

How come Coleman was ahead by several hundred votes, yet when the ballots were counted more closely and under scrutiny, Franken led by 255? Why were the counts off in the first place, and why does it seem that all such recounts show the Republican had more votes than they deserved?

Get Holder and Geleitner in there! We need them now! (And Clinton and Daschle too, but they're just slightly less urgent.)

So as of today, Salazar is next in line for the Presidency after Obama, Biden, Pelosi and Robert Byrd.

No, Interior is way down. Off the top of my head the 22nd (?) Amendment says
Obama
Biden
Pelosi
Byrd
Clinton (eventually)
Gates (currently)
and then the cabinet member in order of department creation.

At the time I posted, Clinton hadn't been confirmed. As for Gates: "Defense" as a department wasn't created until the 1950s.

I'm not going to look up the Dept. creations, but your post, So as of today, Salazar is next in line for the Presidency after Obama, Biden, Pelosi and Robert Byrd. was incorrect even at the time, since the cabinet members come after VP, Speaker, Senate Pres.

Hmm... I read your post as "Salazar next in line after Obama, then Biden...." while you meant "Salazar after..." all the serial list. In that case, I have to look it up. And no, Defense is before Interior (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_line_of_succession) in the line of succession.

Ah-hah! So they retconned "Department of Defense" to the seniority of the old Department of War! I sit corrected; thanx.
