Well, it took a week, but I wrestled it to the ground. After a hard drive failure, two FedEx deliveries, much hand-wringing and a couple of requests, I finally have 1:11 minutes of music/spoken word that flows and covers the subject. The hard parts were coming up with a title and which song to end on. And I may change my mind, but for now:

1. 21st Century Schizoid Man Including Mirrors – King Crimson 7:23
2. Slacker Health – The Neanderthal Spongecake 4:22
3. How Far Can We Go Crazy? – Kacey Jones 3:34
4. English is Cuh-Ray-Zee (English is Crazy) – Pete Seeger 3:45
5. I'd Have To Be Crazy – Willie Nelson 3:26
6. Crazy Baby – Rodney Crowell 3:04
7. Sheila – Tommy Roe 1:58
8. Boys of Bedlam – Steeleye Span 4:19
9. Madman Mora Blues – Boiled In Lead 3:13
10. Twisted – Joni Mitchell 2:21
11. 99 Holes – Jimmie Dale Gilmore 3:13
12. Coo Coo-U – Kingston Trio 2:19
13. They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! – Napoeon XlV 2:09
14. Meter Madness – Tom Digby 1:54
15. With Sparklers All Around Her – Power Salad 2:49
16. How Nice – The Tokens 3:06
17. Matilda Mother – Pink Floyd 3:08
18. Crazy Man Michael – Fairport Convention 4:38
19. My Descent Into Madness – Eels 3:55
20. The World's Gone Mad – The Jitterz 4:02
21. Queen Isabella – Krostopher Klover 3:05

The people I know are in this year's Exchange are [livejournal.com profile] mle292 and [livejournal.com profile] dreamshark. Anyone else playing?

Due to the aforementioned technical problems, I'll have a limited amount of them at Marscon, but I can burn more.

Okay. I forgot to link to the original post (http://dreamshark.livejournal.com/213966.html) suggesting the theme, which may help you. Or may not.

If it's not too late - Velvet Undeground's "Black Angel's Death Song". It's pretty crazy, I think about a mushroom trip gone bad.

I do not, alas, have that one. Depending on you want to define "madness" or "crazy", many songs fit. I tried for a bit of breadth, but left out whole swatches of sub-genres (eg "Excitable Boy", "Mediocre Fred", "Maxwell's Silver Hammer","Psycho Killer"; somehow, I wanted the present the upside of madness. Well, some of the upside...)

Fee; free to participate in the exchange. You don't have to come to Marscon, we have often kept going until Minicon.

I'm not actually planning to be at Marscon, but you know I want to be part of this. Maybe we can have an Exchange Party at Minicon. I have extra copies of my earlier theme collections as well.

Sure. Anyone who wants to play brings a compilation of the Theme of the Year, plus any old theme compilations they have lying around. The old compilations can be traded at the whim of the compilation owners.

Of course, you and I may be the only ones with a pile of extra compilation disks sitting around and we've already traded ours. But it's an idea.
