Random yet pithy quotes

Okay, sure. From skylarker via cakmpls using the Random Quotes Generator, which is always fun anyway, the goal is to keep regenerating the page until you have five (or however many you feel appropriate) quotes to post. (I got five in three pages, so kept going.) I haven't added anything to my quotefile except lines from The Daily Show in a long time. Herein are some quotes that might be .sigs at some point. I will add the further fillip that I must not have heard the quote before (or forgotten if I have).

Well, maybe. But to be an SF fan is often to feel a great admiration for the work of people whom one personally loathes.

If you mean "continuing to read an author whom one finds less than adequate in person", I agree. But direct offenses often provoke a visceral response. At least for some: Apparently, there are people feuding with me whom I'm not at all feuding with, and that just makes them madder. I don't know why, and I don't really care; I can recognize genius even in people behaving like idiots. I seem to be the exception, which is why the quote was attractive.
