New Friends, new userpic

A post-Marscon glomming of Friends collided with the realization that it's been over a year since I changed userpics. Much as I like the previous one (a self-portrait taken in Antarctica), I like this one too. Taken by Rachel R. with my camera at the 2006 Convivial.

I like my little Fuji FinePix S3000. 3.2Megapixels w/6x zoom lens. Decent features, easy navigation. Good enough to take pictures that can be printed 8x10, inexpensive enough that I feel comfortable letting kids use it. More than four years old; ancient by digital camera standards.

And yes, that means I'm working on the Convivial gallery. Short term goal: Be caught up by Minicon. Failing that, at least not fall too far behind. (In the queue: Convivial, Thanksgiving, Corwin Wedding, Pool Party, Marscon.)

We just upgraded to a 9.0-MP Fuji FinePix S9100. It's friggin' awesome. I'm gonna blow up one of my nosehairs and use it as wallpaper.

Won't the splatter get all over your equipment?

Oh... you mean blow up a photo of your nosehairs. Well. I recommend you go outside for lighting and use a tripod. Your neighbors will wonder why you have a nostril pointed at the sun, but they're used to you by now.

Yes, and one also hopes that the hair would be detached from the nose prior to the explosion.
